Dear [Name],
Labour is back-tracking fast on climate commitments. They're prioritising climate-wrecking airport expansion over green growth in the industries of tomorrow. Reform is riding high in the polls, pulling all parties towards science-defying populism.
More than ever we need to unite as a powerful, mass movement, to maximise our democratic voice, so the mainstream parties get it: that they will win more votes and seats from climate action than from disinformation and inaction.
With enough members, and the work of so many others alongside us, VoteClimate can change the direction of UK politics for good.
VoteClimate's next milestone will be the local elections on 1st May 2025.
Local elections are important because:
Our voting recommendations will aim to elect as many councillors committed to climate action as possible. We will do this based on their parties' national policies and their local positions.
We'll send our voting recommendations by email in early April. Even if you're not in an area holding elections, there'll be information you can pass onto friends in areas where their vote will have the biggest impact for climate.
We can only campaign effectively with more financial resources.
VoteClimate would not exist without our members' subscriptions. We currently run on a shoestring, entirely with volunteers. With more income we would add one or two part-time members of staff, expanding our resource in software, research and marketing.
If you have not already set up a subscription or if you can spare a little more, we have good news:
One of our subscribers has agreed to match-fund the first year of all subscriptions set up or increased in the period from now to 1st May 2025 (massive thanks!). This means what you give through your subscription will be doubled for twelve months..
With very best wishes
Ben, Peter & William
