    Wood waste used for biomass typically comes from faster growing trees. The commercial forest gets cropped each year just as other trees are planted each year. If the overall stock of carbon in that forest is maintained then emissions from burning one can be treated as zero because of the CO2 absorbed by the replacement trees. Though, of course, all the operational and transport emissions must be considered too. [Source]
